Holy Ground

2018 - 2019

With this series,  I explored several themes based on cornfields I drew and photographed during trips to Ohio in January and March of 2018. A cornfield in winter long after its fruit has been picked came to represent our brokenness, pain and sorrow. Likewise, the spent, weathered flowers found in cemetery yards represented our finite lives.  They are the realities of this life, but not the one to come. I await my Eternal Home where God will wipe away the tears that stain our eyes and

provide healing leaves for the nations.

I also thought about our everyday life and where we meet God. Moses found God in a burning bush in the middle of the desert as he herded sheep. God told him to remove his shoes as he was on holy ground. No matter where we are God moves in and we can find ourselves in a sacred dialogue. Even in broken fields we can find grace and beauty.
